Hake's Americana & Collectibles

Back when ESA was first getting started, I was incredibly pleased when we received permission from the fine folks over at Hake's Americana & Collectibles to republish their email announcements. After all, this is one of the nation's largest and most renowned auction companies specializing in the sale of American cultural artifacts and collectibles. It's no wonder that the company's newsletter archive at ESA is one of the most frequently visited sections of the site. They regularly conduct themed auctions spanning nearly every category of American history - military, politics, celebrity, sports, comic book and monster magazines, original art, farm machinery, and early American artifacts.

Hake's Americana & Collectibles is headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, which is in-between Harrisburg and Baltimore, Maryland. They conduct online auctions and allow bidders to participate by phone, so anyone can bid for the items from the comfort of their own home.

This week's announcement that Hake's will be selling a collection of collectibles from industry legend Robert M. Overstreet is a great example to demonstrate the company's wide-ranging appeal. Bidding is already under way and ends on July 24, 2013. The items are being sold in a soft-close format, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the company's closing procedures. Take a look at some of these neat auction items:

BOB CLARKE “MAD” ORIGINAL COVER CONCEPT PAINTING FOR STAR WARS ISSUE

WHITE SLAVERY PAPERBACK BOOK LOT

"DICK TRACY SQUAD CAR NO. 1" PROFESSIONALLY CUSTOM MADE PEDAL CAR

SHRIMP FOSSILIZED SPECIMEN PLATE

SABER-TOOTH CAT FOSSILIZED SKULL

ESQEL PALLASITE METEORITE SLICE SPECIMEN

These are just a handful of items out of one of many collections being sold at auction by Hake's Americana & Collectibles. As you can tell by their pictures, all of their auction items feature superb photography. Even more impressive than the great pictures are the incredibly detailed item descriptions. Hake's obviously knows what their bidders need in order to feel comfortable participating in the sale.

Given the amount of painstaking effort that goes into each of the items offered for sale at Hakes, you might be surprised to see that they have thousands of items in their online auctions - 2,872 at the time of writing. Even more amazing is the fact that their fixed-price listings are nearly double that amount - 5,485 at the time of writing. With more than 8,000 items for sale, Hake's Americana and Collectibles truly has something to interest everyone.

What I wonder is how anyone on the Hake's team has time to manage their busy Facebook page and Twitter feed.
